MediaMax FAQs

What about copyright laws? Is there information on how to obey copyright laws?

What components do I need?

To start, choose a MediaServer series that best meets your needs. The MediaServer is where your collection is stored. Some things to consider are the size of your media collection and how it will grow in the future. Another consideration is the number of MediaDecks you will need for media playback in rooms (or zones). MediaMax is a whole-house system comprised of the following three components:

1. MediaServer - The MediaServer loads, stores and delivers your media to your MediaDeck and AudioDeck playback stations.

Ckick here for a detailed comparison of the different MediaServer models.

The MediaServer is available in two distinct and award winning series.

  • Pro Series. The Pro Series stores and serves your media over your network to an unlimited number of MediaDecks, with the ability to serve up to 30 simultaneous movies streams. The Pro Series Rackmount model also supports up to 2.5 TBs of storage. The Pro Series includes a TV Tuner and full Personal Video Recording software, 5 Removable MediaDrive bays to optionally add up to 5 MediaDrives) and you may optionally add a RAID card that supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 to the Pro Series. Additionally you may add one or more MediaStore(s) (see below) for additional storage.
  • Spectra Series. The Spectra Series is a more affordable series that is housed in an A/V component style chassis and supports up to 4 MediaDecks. The Spectra 4 offers total media capacities up to 1.5TB (250 movies). You may add a MediaStore (see below) for additional storage.

2. MediaDeck - Media viewing and listening set-top stations that instantly play back selected movies, music and photos from the MediaServer on your home theater display and surround sound audio system. MediaDecks may either be distributed in each room or centralized in your audio-video distribution server room. Includes both wired and wireless Ethernet connections.

3. AudioDeck - AudioDeck is an affordable alternative to the movie and music MediaDeck = when you only need to listen to music.

4. MediaStore Optional add-on Firewire storage appliance that provides virtually unlimited media expansion. MediaMax is available in either a 19 inch rackmount chassis or stylish brushed aluminum desktop enclosure.
