Excerpt from
article in Sept. 2004 Issue of Digital
Connect Magazine
Brian Perkins, custom home manager at Sound Track
Technologies, a commercial and home systems integrator in Salamanca, N.Y., doesn't
install products from manufacturers trying to crack a new market outside of his
company's core focus. But he broke that rule with Axonix, a manufacturer of commercial
media storage products that released its MediaMax movie/music media server home
system last year and plans to unleash an updated version at this month's CEDIA Expo.
It started when a technically savvy client wanted a "future-proof" media
storage and distribution system for his new $4 million home. The client found information
about Axonix's MediaMax on the Web and compared it to more expensive systems. Although
he had "more money than he knows what to do with," Perkins says, the client
liked MediaMax for its price and features, mainly its scalable open-standards architecture.
Perkins then talked to people who had dealt with Axonix in the commercial market
and liked what he heard.
"Axonix has been more than wonderful to work with, really easy," he says.
"I can see us selling quite a few of these because we're a full-service company,
and the majority of people coming in now want us to deliver a full solution. That's
where I see MediaMax as being a big asset to us."

DSM Announces Training Technology Breakthrough
DSM, a global manufacturer of life science products, performance materials and industrial
products announces a training technology breakthrough at their chemical facility
in Augusta, Georgia.
Using Axonix video server technology
DSM’s Training Group is now linking full-motion videos through the RISC Virtual
Training Assistant LMS so learners can launch training videos on demand.
Tests developed in the VTA Evaluator system allow the training group to ensure learners
mastered the information covered in the videos.
“In
the past, groups have stayed away from trying to serve video over the internet because
of the large band-width requirements but now our learners can access videos whenever
it fits into their work schedule from their desktops”, says Vincent Engelke at DSM.
DSM has been using the RISC VTA Suite of products to manage their training records
at the Augusta facility since 2001.

Dear Steve,
As the Corporate Training Coordinator for DSM Chemicals North America, I must say
that having the SuperView is like having a video production department at my disposal.
The Axonix SuperView is a significant contributor to our efforts to maximize the
effectiveness of our Learning Management System’s VTA (Virtual Training Assistant).
You can see the article,

The ability to quickly add training video content and launch a training event delivered
directly to the desktop on demand, without overloading the bandwidth capacity of
our intranet is a major plus.
Another very important application is the ability to capture knowledge from employees
that are approaching retirement, and create reference videos for new and future
employees that can be accessed on demand.
We can make the transition from analog-to-digital video without having to set-up
a complex digital encoding process. This has extended the life of our existing training
video materials by many years.
As well, the service and response from Axonix technical support folks is outstanding.
They are solution-oriented!
So, from sharing community activities, regulatory training, performance enhancing,
to kicking off our United Way campaign - the options are many.
SuperView is a tool just in time for the Information Age!
Regards,
Vincent J. Engelke

Dear Rip:
I wanted to take a moment to let you know how pleased we are with our SuperView!
Saint Louis University has maintained an instructional
materials collection for over 30 years, but the SuperView totally changes our distribution
paradigm- more radically than VHS did in the early 1980's!
As we continue acquiring digital permissions for instructional digitizing, ON-DEMAND
becomes the real preference of faculty, and with SuperView delivering tapes will
become a thing of the past.
The Axonix SuperView Video Appliance is very secure "right out-of-the-box".In
an age where computers are hacking targets, it's nice to see a device that works
like an appliance yet that has security features implemented by default.Yet it still
offers significant configurability and integration with other network devices. The
media center or library can literally have media online the first day, and can grow
and adapt the collection as needs change.
The web browser Administration interface makes a great "front end" for
Saint Louis University faculty to manage their own videos, allowing them to move
content from the University's digital video collection to their own private folders
as needed. And by copying the URL ofany video (File...Properties in Windows Media
Player)to links in our WebCT course environment, faculty can maintain the password
protection required by many digital rights providers and by the TEACH Act.
Axonix SuperView integrates the best of today's streaming technology into an easy-to-use
product that is cost-effective enough for tight educational budgets, but with high
enough performance to effectively take advantage of today’s network delivery technologies. When
your goal is on-campus video delivery to a wired campus or building, there's no
better solution at this price point.
Also special thanks to both you and Doug for your excellent support.
It’s
been a pleasure to work with you.

Dear Axonix:
SuperView fulfills our need to deliver to patrons instant access to our extensive
in-house library of video tapes, discs, recorded lectures and satellite content.
SuperView allows us to dramatically reduce our satellite costs by sharing internally
stored content across our WAN versus deploying expensive satellite installations
at all of our buildings.

Dear Rip,
I have finally loaded our many CD’s into the SuperCD server and it works great!
I have consolidated 3 other old CD towers that we had down to just the one Axonix
SuperCD and I still have tons of room for many more images. The nicest feature is
the 5 slot CD-ROM drive where you can toss in the discs and just walk away and let
it build the images on its own.
Another nice thing is how fast you can access the images on it. On our old CD towers
the disk access time was quite slow especially on the unit that had 14 – mini-changer
CD-ROM drives.
I wish we had one of these years ago, it would have made things a lot easier and
freed up a lot of our teams’ time.
Thanks for a great product,

In the spring of 2001, I purchased the SuperCD Platinum 45 with the gracious help
from Rip Pett. His explanation of the product and the customer service he provided
convinced me that this product was right for me. For a few years now, the students
in the computer lab at Stanwood Elementary School have been using CD’s for their
instruction. However, the cd rom drives are failing and the cd’s are getting scratched
and non usable. So, you can imagine the delight of the students and teachers when
I installed this product. I have since purchased another SuperCD Platinum 45 for
our other elementary school.
Thanks to Rip for his outstanding customer care and Axonix Corporation for a terrific
product and for your great technical support when it was necessary.

Dear Axonix Corporation,
I would like to say that we are VERY pleased with our SuperCD.
In the past, Indiana Purdue University spent as much as $30,000 for a CD-ROM network
solution that required a full size rack and a CD-ROM drive (and drive letter) for
each disk. It took many years to get it up and running in NDS.
After unpacking SuperCD, we were up and configured for the web and NDS
within
15 minutes!
Later that night my 11 year old son loaded all of the CD/DVDs from our old CD-ROM
tower to the new SuperCD. He was actually bored because there was nothing more to
do but insert the CD wait a few minutes for it to image!
Thanks for a great product,

Dear Axonix:
I just wanted you to know how pleased we are with your SuperCD servers. We own five
SuperCD servers and have had great success with the deployment of each one. Their
versatility is outstanding; I’ve had one unit serving as a NetWare server and an
NT server at the same time on two different LAN’s. Impressive.
I have personally had experience with 7 different manufacturers of CD-ROM servers/towers,
and can honestly say that the Axonix SuperCD is the most reliable, robust, and easy
to manage unit I have ever used.

We are currently using several of the SuperCD units for network CD-ROM applications
in our schools. We have had good success in configuring and setting up the units.
We like SuperCD, especially for the ease of setup and operation. We were able to
quickly configure and deploy these units after receiving them.

This letter is just to let you know how much we love our SuperCD Tower. It provides
easy access for management and use while interfacing nicely with our Mac network.
In our computer lab, we are able to have up to 30 students simultaneously access
the same CD at the same time with no decrease in performance.

We bought two SuperCD 280-Platinum servers for CD-ROM confidential data storage
accessible for only selected users in the company. Our bank uses up to 125 CDs a
year and we need to have them available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I found the storage solution I was looking for at
www.axonix.com.I
called Steve Auerbach (sales manager) and he explained to me what SuperCD was all
about. After a few talks on the phone, I finally ordered two SuperCD 280 Platinum
servers - the models that suited my bank’s needs and budget.
I received the two SuperCDs and hooked them up to our network. As Mr. Auerbach told
me, "all you need is a power cable and a connection to the network" -
and it’s true. I’ve never configured such easy machines; I’ve set them up on a NT
domain, in a workgroup and as Novell servers. I’ve also used SuperCD’s security
features with NT’s and Novell’s security, as well – SuperCD is compatible with everything.
Now, they are both on the network and the users are happy about the facility and
the speed they are accessing the data with.
About the people at Axonix, they are polite, professional and they are open-minded...If
you have questions or suggestions, they are always ready to listen to your needs.

Dear Axonix Corporation,
I purchased SuperCD-Gold from Axonix Corporation because I needed to provide an
easy to use CD-ROM distribution source for our students. The materials we wanted
to distribute were course materials as well as programs that were and are being
used in laboratory situations. We have several locations in our building and off
campus where students are taking our courses.
I have been teaching with electronic technologies since 1974 and this is
one
of the only server type technologies that worked correctly right out of the box!
We evaluated several products before selecting SuperCD 40 Gold server.
This
40 CD-ROM capacity unit that does exactly what is was advertised and promised to
do. When necessary, I will definitely go back to Axonix for their products.
They have supplied a product that does what they promise – WORK OUT OF THE BOX THE
FIRST TIME!
A true plug-in and use server! When I ordered the Axonix SuperCD
Gold I requested an IP address from our IT folks - that took the longest. My time
is valuable and Axonix did not waste any of my time reading poorly written or poorly
translated instructional manuals. The manuals were quick and easy to follow - all
you did was actually follow the directions as printed and it worked correctly!
SuperCD was up and running with the first CD Image ready for access in less than
20 minutes. This included setting up the IP address, which again was
easy and followed the steps in the manual.
SuperCD gave us what we needed: storage space, access for students, ease of use
by faculty, and bottom line was a price we could justify. SuperCD Gold was the only
server that would do all we wanted to do for our students.
SuperCD really worked as advertised and promised by the actual person I talked
to on the phone. It was easier than hooking up and installing a new printer in Windows
98.
For everyone at Axonix, just keep the quality of the product like it is currently
– It does what it is promised to do – WORK. We have already moved several thousands
of pages of materials to the SuperCD Gold. IT is going to also act as our web database
distribution source.
Axonix Corporation’s Regional Sales Manager, Steve Auerbach was very helpful and
worked with me to get exactly what we needed to do the job. Steve is a great sales
person who was more interested in making sure we were happy and getting what we
needed that selling the world to us. A trait more of us need to follow. Steve is
just a great person who really helped and made the difference. I will buy from him
and Axonix again!
I highly recommend SuperCD-Gold. It is a great product and an affordable price.
Sincerely,
